This Girl

I got to spend quite a bit of time with this girl this weekend.

My niece, BrinLee, is one of my favorite people. Here are some things about her that I love:

Her beautiful eyes. When you can actually get her to look you in the eye, it’s hard to look away. Her eyes are beautiful colors and there’s so much living in them that it’s hard not to stare.
She is all her. No matter what is going on, BrinLee is never afraid to just be her.
Like me, she gets overwhelmed in large groups of people. While I love going to Disneyland, she hates it. There are too many people and way too many things going on. This also means, however, that I get to spend a lot of one-on-one time with her. Much of Saturday was spent in her room or sitting quietly in the backyard – just her and me.
Her hair. It’s as fiery as her personality. Her bright red hair is a reflection of her inner passion for the things and people she loves.
And my favorite thing of all: the way she loves. Sometimes it’s hard to tell that she loves you because she’s not a great communicator. When she gives you a hug or when she snuggles in with you, you know you’ve touched heaven.

BrinLee is the sweetest 6-year old I know. She’s passionate, stubborn, loud, and loving. And I could talk about her forever.
