Be That Person

Be That Person

When you were younger, did you ever wish that there was someone who would listen and try to understand you? An adult who could remember what it was like to be a teenager and didn’t dismiss everything you said or everything you thought just because you were young?

I did.

I met one or two, but for the most part being a teenager was horrible. One of “my kids” recently posted or sent me this quote and I love it.

I’ve come to realize over the years how healing this can be. Not only does it allow you the opportunity to help someone else, but it also allows you to be the kind of mom (or dad) that you always wanted to be.

There are so many kids and teens out there who don’t have anyone listening at home. On the flip side, there are a lot of parents out there who are exhausted from trying to make ends meet. It can really be a win-win-win. The kid has someone who will listen. You have someone to listen to and support. The parent(s) get to take a breath for a minute and regroup.

It can also be a lot of fun going shopping for Halloween costumes, Christmas presents and back-to-school supplies. I know I’ve enjoyed it.
